We live in a lovely part of the world with a climate that brings 300 days of sunshine each year, but all that outside living has its problems. You see to get a breeze through the house means leaving doors open which brings the problem of door slamming. This is a genuine issue, you get a good breeze going and a door can slam with enough force to crack a wall.
If you enter a house in this region you will notice all sorts of door stops. Favorites are old iron weights. Old flat irons are also popular and some people go for large (bowling ball size) rocks.

Here is my alternative: The door boot. It's an old cowboy boot painted anyway you like. I bought this pair in a thrift store in Flagstaff, AZ. and painted a desert landscape using acrylic paint. To give the boot weight (to stop the door slamming), fill them up to the ankle with small stones. They work a treat.

Great idea! I am a boot freak and wear boots most of the time (not just western boots, but all types of boots). That's a nice pair you rescued. Their former life has given them just the right posture and character to be art Oh, how I love boots!
