World's most camp hotel

I have walked past this small hotel in Granada hundreds of times and it always makes me smile. I have a friend who described it as "the world's most camp hotel". He spent a night there and described the interior as "comfortable and normal".

My friend's description ruined the mental image I had of the interior. I had imagined that the staff wore sailor suits and the sheets were brushed nylon, but apparently not, they're just normal.

Those flowers are ceramic tiles, each one is unique. The building must have been completed before planning restrictions were introduced, I can't imagine you'd get permission for something like that today.

I love this building. It's cheerful, colorful and eccentric.

  1. It's also diagonally opposite one of the best Tapas Bars in Granada. La Esquinita is also in Campo de Principe and is one of the 100 tapas bars featured in the excellent Granada Tapas Tour guidebook you have on your site. Have a few at La Esquinita then rest yout head at the unmissable La Ninfa.

  2. Who wouldn't want those tiles? They're like starfish on dry land.

  3. I love all the unique views of Mediterranean living you offer on your blog. I'm so tempted to pack it all up and move to Spain just so I can see these views all for myself every day.

  4. At first it looked liked daisies to me. I thought it was something the hippies did in the 1960's!
