There is something very special and nostalgic about a farmhouse kitchen. You could spend many enjoyable hours searching for a Normandy milk bottle or wire egg basket.

The zinc cake stand is a rare find indeed. Go into a French bar and you'll usually be serverd on a zinc bar top. Zinc not only looks wonderful, it's essential for the immune system.

All the kitchen items above come from Farmhouse Wares a unique place for lovers of country living.

Red room - French country style

Red walls and wood burning stove Photograph by Tim Irving
French country kitchen photograph by Tim IrvingWhat do you think of this French cottage?
Personally, I love it. It looks simple but I can tell you, that to make a red wall work in a room requires a very good eye for design. If you look carefully you'll see there isn't much red at all, just that centre panel, but a little red goes a long way.

I also love the kitchen. As I was taking these photos the owner was making orange marmalade so I got the complete experience.

The kitchen walls are not painted, the pink is natural plaster (gesso).

I'ts a beautiful day today in my little part of the world. The sun is shining, birds are singing and I can hear someone whistling a tune as they walk past my window. I wish you a good day and a good week.
