This is a small selection of my Polaroid SX-70 (Time Zero) collection. I started taking Polaroids in the 70's. Polaroid ceased production of SX-70 film in 2006. You can still buy the film but it commands a hefty price, about $35 for a single pack. I'm down to my last few packs of film and I'll be sorry when it's gone.I've just started the task of scanning the collection and filing the originals, it's a very slow job. I've discovered that unlike digital files, Polaroids prints and film in general have soul.
As I sort through the prints handling them with great care, I'm taken back to the moment I took the photograph, the memory is as clear as crystal. I also remember my feelings at the time. This is a totally different experience to digital photographs. I have digital files going back to the late 90's but they don't have that something like Polaroids.
I have to get back to work, I have over 800 Polaroids left to scan and file.

The photographs on this blog were taken by me, unless otherwise noted. If you'd like to share them with friends or use them in some way, please let people know where you found them, or send me an
Do I have some wonderful news for you or what?

(No, I'm not giving you a bogus link or anything)
I garantee it will make your day.
You're right about the qualities of film and different types of film. I used a strip of 35mm negatives in a mixed media project last year, and the professor touched it and said, "Oh, I miss this. I miss film." I'm so glad you have all your polaroids and are caring for, archiving,AND sharing them.
ReplyDeleteI came across one of those SX-70's at a thrift shop a couple of weeks ago, but it was very sad shape. Too bad because I would have bought it for my camera collection.
ReplyDeleteMy parents had a Polaroid camera, one of the instamatic types (can't remember the name of it to save my neck). I remember the pictures, and I remember using it from time to time, but I've never seen the cameras around since then.
